Seaside Style in Nashville’s Go-To Getaway

The connection between Nashville and Seaside, FL goes back nearly 30 years. Since Tennessee is landlocked, most Nashvillians head to the gulf of Mexico (on the Florida panhandle) to beat the heat and  chase the waves…it happens to be one of the closest beaches to Nashville clocking in at about a 7 hour drive. The area is fondly referred to as 30A, named for the scenic highway that connects the now famous beach communities of Seaside, Rosemary Beach,  Watersound, Grayton, and Alys Beach just to name a few. And nowadays, you can’t go down to this area without bumping into some of Nashville’s biggest stars and most well known songwriters. I’m gonna respect their privacy but about half a dozen A-list Country acts have 2nd homes right along this stretch of coastal highway— if you follow their Instagram accounts you probably already know who I’m talking about. Now, with the addition of the 30A Songwriter’s Festival the connection between the Nashville and 30A community has never been stronger.

So, in celebration of the 30A Songwriter’s Festival, which runs January 15th-17th, I‘ve partnered with one of my favorite shops, Perspicacity, in the picturesque town of Seaside, FL (the location of the Truman Show movie). Over the next several days we’ll bring you some fresh breezy beach styles. AND because we all love to do a little shopping on a vacation, we’ll be talking about how to work beach style into your wardrobe year-round so you can justify those vacation purchases all the easier. And what better way to chase off the winter blues than to inject some seaside inspired style.

I fell for this “Pool to Party” breezy vest by Subtle Luxury as soon as I saw it hanging in the stock room. I think it was intended to be a swimsuit cover-up, but I immediately wanted to throw it on over my jeans as a fun way to bring a little gypsy sensibility to a basic jeans-tee-boots look. You could also throw a slip under it and belt it, and it would be FAB. I was crying over the tassels.

As you can see I kept it on over this ROMPER as well, because I think it’s kind of fun to mix patterns that shouldn’t necessarily “go” with each other, but are in a relative color family.

I did FINALLY take the vest off so you could get a better look at this romper.  This pattern is somewhere between an animal print and tie-die, and I LOVE it. Also want it in the tan color please! The romper is by Betro Simone. If you’re not on the romper train yet, here’s why you should be. A romper like this is just a teeny notch down from a sundress, but in the best possible way. Romper says, “who me?….I’m just rolling into brunch all casual and AMAZING and I didn’t even have to try. ”  We paired it with a gorgeous oversized shell and hemp necklace, and straw bag. I like mixing in a felt hat and boots so it doesn’t feel overly summery. If you’re somewhere warm over the winter months it makes sense to wear temperature appropriate clothes, but I like to have accessories that still nod to the season and time of year.

And because Perspicacity pretty much wrote the book on the day to night sundress here’s one of the ZILLION options they have in the shop right now. Easy, pretty, comfortable.
