Hear This! December Playlist

The very first track on this month’s playlist is “Stay A Little Longer,” by my EMI label mates the Brothers Osborne. These guys are so SO talented. Incredible musicians, and just the kind of people you want to win, you know? SO I’m so glad that this song is finally nearing it’s way to the top of the charts. I actually really loved the “demo” of this song that was on their EP. But this is the version they took to country radio, produced by Jay Joyce. And it’s great too. I just got attached to the original version…it’s still up on Spotify if you want to hear it as well.

Of course I had to include something from Adele’s RECORD BREAKING release, 25.  But…as you may have heard, the only song you can stream is the first single off the record, Hello…which is badass. But the song I’m really freaking out over is “River Lea.” So…if you don’t have this album, go buy it and then listen to River Lea on repeat while drinking a hot toddy. You’re welcome.

In fact, I think the lyric in the chorus is kinda country, except in country we’d get flack for repeating “the River Lea”…but that’s the best part, RIGHT?

But it’s in my roots, in my veins
It’s in my blood and I stain every heart that I use to heal the pain
Oh, It’s in my roots, in my veins
It’s in my blood and I stain every heart that I use to heal the pain
So I blame it on the River Lea, the River Lea, the River Lea
Yeah I blame it on the River Lea, the River Lea, the River Lea

OK, back to what’s actually ON my playlist this month…I was listening to “The 615” which is a show on  local independent station Lightning 100 that features new local music, and I heard the song “Vibes” from Michael McQuaid (who I’d never heard of) and just thought it was cool. So I put it on my playlist. And, I really think that as musicians we have to share what little reach, what little platform we have to help other artist too. At least I hope that other artists who dig my stuff will support me, so if you like Michael’s song…go buy it! It has less than 1000 streams on Spotify, so it’d probably really help him out if you love and go buy it. (Or stream it so much that someone takes notice.) 😉

Maren Morris‘ “Drunk Girls Don’t Cry” is also on there. Now, there has been a ton of hype about Maren, and sometimes that really turns me off, but she’s the real deal. Great singer. Cool chick. Check it out.

That’s just a little bit of what’s on there…so go check it.

And if you MUST MUST have a holiday playlist, I’ve got your back here instead :

Love the fact that you’re promoting Maren Morris. I’ve been a dan of hers since her MySpace days!

An addition to your Christmas playlist, “Christmas time’s a comin” by Sammy Kershaw and the holiday isn’t complete without Leroy the Redneck Reindeer by Joe Diffy.

Thanks for a great couple of playlists, peace and hugs from PA!
