ACM Red Carpet: Wearing Olia Zavozina

2016-04-19_0004It takes a village to get a girl ready for the red carpet. So I have to say I was so honored when I heard that Olia Zavozina, a Nashville based bridal designer, would be loaning me a dress to wear at the ACM Awards. 2016-04-19_0008I went to Olia’s flagship store in the heart of Green Hills in Nashville to meet with her for a fitting prior to the award show. Her personality is as effervescent as her gowns. She’s spirited, glamorous, and incredibly hard-working…I loved her immediately. While she is most famous for her classic bridal silhouettes (which are exquisite,) she’s also working on some other really interesting projects. For example, she’s created a line of custom pieces being worn in the ring by Russian WWE star CJ Perry. Let’s just say there are CAPES ladies, CAPES. To.Die.For. It’s making me think I need to start paying better attention to the WWE. She’s also collaborating with Clare Bowen (of ABC’s Nashville) on some beautiful stage pieces for Clare to wear on tour.IMG_0887For the ACMs, Olia recommended a two piece black lace look from her Spring 2017 collection. The attention to detail was absolutely incredible, and I felt amazing in it.2016-04-19_0025Originally, there was a slip under the skirt, but I asked Olia if we could spice it up a little bit since it was Vegas. She had the idea of making some boyshorts–I called them “bloomers”– to wear under the dress. Lace is such a huge trend right now, but the boy shorts were a really fun way to make the look a little more playful; I loved it.2016-04-19_0056Accessories wise, I layered on some costume rings from Charming Charlie (not kidding–this is one of my favorite tricks.) I also wore an amazing pair of earrings from Nasty Gal (another source I use ALL the time for stage clothes) they were 20 bucks–sadly they’re sold out, but I linked to some great “bang for your buck” earrings at the bottom of the page.2016-04-19_0015 I wanted a shoe that was little bit edgy since the lace was so ladylike, so I wore these by Louboutin. Now, these are a splurge. However, I did find these amazing Valentino look-alikes if you’re into the stud/spike heel thing but don’t want to spend an arm and a leg–these are on sale for $20 at Charlotte Russe. WHAAAT?!

Since we were staying in the very funky and cool SLS Resort in Vegas right next to the location for the ACM Party For A Cause,) I grabbed local photographer Dusty Fruend and we staged some moody shots around the casino.2016-04-19_00552016-04-19_00162016-04-19_00122016-04-19_00022016-04-19_0006
